Sunday – August 1st (In Person & Online at 9am)

On Sunday, August 1st we will meet outdoors at the West Point Baptist Church parking lot and online. Mask are required for our outdoor service. Please bring a chair, umbrella for shade and water. Bring a lunch and join us in the park afterwards for our 1st Sunday “Potluck”!

We will update this page each Friday by 12:00 pm with information about whether we will be in-person or only online on Sunday.
Note: Services for August will be at 9:00 am in order to avoid the summer heat.

PATS Prayer Around The Schools | Saturday, August 7; 9:00 – 10:00 am
Join us for a prayer walk around our neighborhood schools. Meet in front of Kennicott Park’s building (4434 S. Lake Park. Ave.).

NCO Fun Fair Volunteers Needed | Saturday, August 14; 11 am-2 pm
Join us as we host a back to school fun fair for our neighborhood students and families. Sign up HERE to help out on the day of or with behind the scenes tasks.

The New Community Summer Book: The Deeply Formed Life | August 25 at 7:00 pm
Join us on Zoom this summer as we read pastor and author Rich Villodas’ new book about spiritual growth and formation. Please finish the book for our last discussion. The author will be joining us!

Combined Community Prayer Service | Friday, August 27; 6:30 pm
Join us for a time of prayer for our students and teachers as a new school year begins. Please wear a mask. We will practice social distancing. We’ll gather at the Outdoor Amphitheater at King College Prep High School (4445 S Drexel Blvd). Host churches: New Community, Glorious Light, Bright Star

Membership Class | Saturdays, August 28 and September 11; 2:00-4:00 pm
If you are interested in becoming a member of New Com or would just like to learn more about the church, please get these dates on your calendar. It is one class that takes place over two Saturdays. Email Amy to get registered.

Race Against Gun Violence | Thursday, September 23
Join Team New Community Outreach to raise funds for our work creating restorative spaces for healing, reconciliation and flourishing. Our efforts culminate in a race/walk in Grant Park with other community partners who are working to raise awareness and continue their respective efforts. Go to our team page and click “Join This Team.”

Sunday Volunteers Needed
At New Community, Ministry Teams ensure that we can gather to worship each Sunday. If this is your church home, we hope you can find a team to serve with. Our Kid City Team needs seven more people to serve monthly with our growing children’s ministry. Email Pete Blodgett for more information. For information about serving with another ministry team (hospitality, set-up/tech, prayer), please fill out this interest form.

NCO Garden to Table Volunteers Needed
Sign up to volunteer by harvesting & distributing on Saturdays and support NCO’s efforts to provide free, fresh produce to our Bronzeville neighbors.
