What we do

Get Involved

At New Community we nurture our community, serve in ministry, and engage in outreach with our neighbors.

Community

We care for our life together through our Wednesday evening Bible study which meets in-person at West Point Baptist Church (3566 S. Cottage Grove Ave.) at 6:30 the first three Wednesdays of each month. There is also an online option. Email Minister Won Kim for more information.

Ministry

Our ministry teams ensure we can worship and serve together. Email Amy Calkin to learn about serving with the following teams: hospitality, set up/take down, tech/sound, worship, prayer, children/youth, and mid-week Bible Study.

Outreach

Our non-profit, New Community Outreach (NCO), leads us in sustainable and strategic outreach alongside our neighbors in Bronzeville. Email Sonia Wang to learn more about serving with NCO.

Give

Your generosity helps us carry out our mission. You can give online or send a check to our Ministry Center: 3627 S. Cottage Grove; Chicago, IL 60653.

Children and Youth

Children are essential participants in the life of our church. They are not the future of the church, they are the church today! Parents and caregivers can expect a message for children during the Sunday worship service in addition to a children’s classes for infants-5th grade during the sermon portion of the service. On the first Sunday of each month our children remain in the worship service. Middle School children also participate in a weekly discipleship class on Sunday evenings at our Ministry Center. Please email Pete Blodgett, Director of Family, Youth, and Children Ministries with any questions for or more information.

Prayer

At New Community, prayer is behind everything we do. If you’d like prayer, please email us your request or to set-up an appointment with a prayer team member. You can also join us each Monday and Friday morning on Zoom or Facebook at 8:00 am for devotions and prayer. And on the first Saturday of each month, we meet at Kennicott Park (4434 S. Lake Park Ave.) for a one-hour prayer walk around three local schools.
